		<description>Dear Sir/Madam.

I am writing to respectfully ask you to stop your country’s whaling activities!

I would like to put this question to you: Do you wish your citizens to remember you as the person who failed in your duty and responsibilities to protect them against a European-wide boycott of their country, preferring instead, to put the interests of a few whalers before that of the whole Icelandic nation?

As long as the Icelandic government continues with its whaling policy, the crisis in your country will increase still further.

According to surveys, more than half the population of Iceland favour joining the EU. However, as you are fully aware, membership is only open to countries which do not pursue whaling activities. In view of this, now would be a good time to send a clear signal to Brussels of your good intentions to end whaling in your country. This action will be of enormous benefit and will not lose you votes.

The welfare and prosperity of your nation, must surely, take priority over any small branch of industry which causes more damage than good to your country’s economy and international image!

I am sure that once the government of Iceland publicly announces an end to all whaling activities, the boycott throughout Europe will cease.

Furthermore, I assure you that I will then be pleased to recommend the purchasing of Icelandic products and will personally promote tourism in your country, which will help towards overcoming your economic crisis much faster, until then the mechanism for a European-wide boycott remains in place.

Yours truly,
